Cultural Mosaic 

General Diet: 

Their diet was very frugal

 

Breakfast: Rice, Soup, Pickles, One or Two dishes of White Fish, boiled dried daikon radish strips, deep-fried tofu with kelp, fried burdock roots, and boiled beans. The most popular soup is clear soup with Tofu

Lunch: Artisans ate Buckwheat soba noodles, sushi, tempura, while thier wives and children ate cold rice left over from breakfast with some side dish

Dinner: Cold leftover rice with hot green tea poured over it with some pickled vegetables 

Language: 

 Since the Tokugawa Shogunate Empire was in Japan most people spoke Japanese as their primary languagespoke but, many some spoke Dutch

Belief System: 

Christian Missionaries were accepted by japan at first, so many japanese were converted to Christians. After a while, Christianity was banned and eventually eliminated. The japanese were forced to be faithful to a type of Buddhism called Zen Buddhism. This had a huge impact in the Japanese society. They would, through meditation, look for enlightenment, and the believers would follow the Zen path to wisdom. Many people practiced Confucianism,  which was a big belief of philosophy and ethical teachings.  

 

Common Games & Sports:

 

Martial arts were very popular during the edo period especially Jujutsu,
which is a Japanese martial art and a method of close combat for defeating an 
armored opponent with no weapon.Kyūdō was also
popular which is also a martial art. The Japanese also participated in Sumo
which is a  full-contact wrestling sport. Also during the Edo period Art
forms like kabuki and ukiyo-e became very popular especially among the
townspeople.

 Trade in Empire: 

The Tokugawa Shogunate prohibits trade with Western nations. The "Act of Seclusion" (1636) effectively "secluded" from trade with Western Europe, except East Asia.Within East Asia, trade continues with the Koreans and Chinese, and exchange of goods and ideas with China is maintained. 

Services they Provide for Citizens:

Tokugawa limited citizens from controlling too much land or power. He increased the land's size that made the peasants work even more harder. Under their rul they alsp exapnded and improved the road system, and provided education.
